Gotong-royong in malay means, in very simple terms, to help out in a collaborative fashion. Which was behavior Mango and Cookie were displaying. Well, mainly Mango.
Here we have my cats trying out these hangout spots in my new Shanghai apartment. As it turns out, these spots were unsatisfactory because I haven’t seen them there since.
But anyway back to the original flow of this post, we have Cookie in the sink and Mango on top of their litter box. Now Cookie is not as great a jumper as Mango is. She also can’t come down from a higher than jumpable spot. So I wake up one morning and see them here. Cookie wants to get down to greet me and she walks around and around the sink. Poor thing can’t jump down. Mango looks up, sees her predicament and casually hops off her spot on the litter box so that Cookie can use it as a step to come down. Which Cookie does successfully and I have 2 cats greeting me good morning by way of circling my feet.
I swear Mango really is the sweetest cat on the planet.

ruski once jumped off a third floor balcony (his last owner’s) and poor guy smashed one of his hind legs. can still feel it’s bumpy mend now, but that hasn’t deterred him from climbing my ikea expedit shelf (1.8m high) and propelling himself from the top of it to the sofa. crazy!
